Tomorrow starts my training! I will do a 35 minute run on the track at my gym (it is either that, or the treadmill-YUCK!), followed by a 50 minute spin class. This will be my first time running since November! Eek! This week I have been MIA because I had a string concert on Wednesday and the week from hell, otherwise. I made it to the gym 3 times, taking a total of 2 spin classes, a yoga class and zumba. This week will be much, much more productive. I am excited to see the results!
If only it would just get above 40, then I could run outside. And wear my brand new Nordstrom shoes.

New Race, New Blog
I recently signed up for the Wisconsin Marathon. It is on May 7, 2011 in Kenosha, WI. Now that I live by myself and am far away from my usual running trails, I need your help. I started this blog so I would have a record of what I have done for this race. I am counting on YOU to help me stay on task. I'll feel better knowing that I ran my 11 miles on a random Saturday because you are counting on me doing it.
My training schedule starts a week from Monday. This week, I'll just continue my usual routine of spin class, zumba, yoga, and elliptical. Sunday is my fun day-AKA rest day.
The challenge of training for this race is not that I haven't done one before. I have run the Columbus Marathon on October 18, 2009 and the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 1, 2010. I also ran in the Pittsburgh marathon relay on May 3, 2009. I have had my fair share of 13.1 mile runs. I have had my fair share of pain(IT Band last spring). The challenge is balancing a first year teaching position with a training schedule. I am not only a first year teacher, but I am also a band director. Outside of my usual 8-4 job, I have to plan trips, concerts and parades. I am not putting down other teaching jobs. I just want to make it clear that some days, I will be waking up at 5AM to get a run in because I will have my band out until 11PM that night. Just another loop I have to jump through.
